Grace's New Coat

Well, I put together a nice fleece and berber blanket for Gracie last night using the guidelines from Abby-K9's blog post and I am SUPER impressed! Overall it fits her extremely well and she really seems to enjoy wearing it. Grace has NEVER worn an article of dog clothing before in her life, but the cold weather has begun especially early this year, and while she's never had much of a winter coat to start, the fact that she's getting a little older is making it a bit harder to stay warm (she will be 6 years old in a few months). I am so proud of her for not trying to rip it off and shred it! And her 'sister' is even leaving it alone...though I think she may be a bit jealous. Ruthie has no need for a blanket coat, but I may have to make her a lightweight one anyway. heheMy plan is to make another, more durable and weather-proof blanket in the next couple of weeks. This one will suffice for now, but there are a few pattern improvements I'd like to make as well as adding a waterproof outer layer and removable inner fleece layer (so I can wash it). Oh! Almost forgot to mention this little project cost me about $8 bucks to make...can't beat that!

Nice job! Our toy fox terrier has a fleece zip up jacket that she just loves to wear! I like the idea of making one. Might have to try that.
